Video playback and AtomicPlayer
Use this page when a video does not load, AtomicPlayer settings do not appear on a page, autoplay behaves differently than expected, or a saved video setting does not reach visitors.
AtomicPlayer behavior depends on three layers: the video asset settings, the page or external embed markup, and the browser/device loading the page.
Video never loads on my page
- Confirm the domain is authorized for the video.
- If Allow all origins is off, make sure the exact site domain is in the allowed origins list.
- Republish the Atomicat page after changing the video block or embed.
- For external sites, replace the copied HTML after saving video settings.
- Test the live page in a private browser window.
- Confirm the domain version matches what visitors use, including
wwwvs non-www. - Check whether the video plays inside Atomicat before testing external pages.
Builder shows no videos
Video availability can depend on AtomicPlayer access, subscription state, project filters, and whether the video belongs to the selected context. Check your plan, add-on access, billing status, and selected project.
See AtomicPlayer subscription.
Settings saved but visitors see old behavior
After changing player settings, Atomicat often reminds you to update the embed code on your pages. Do this every time you change player behavior:
- Republish Atomicat pages that use the video.
- Replace external snippets on WordPress, Webflow, or other hosts.
- Clear page, CDN, and browser cache if thumbnails or scripts look stale.
Settings that commonly require a refreshed embed include Magic Autoplay, Magic Resume, Smart Progress, fixed size, primary color, pause permission, playback speed, thumbnails, and Magic Live Streaming.
Autoplay or Magic Autoplay feels broken
Browsers, especially on mobile, often block autoplay with sound. AtomicPlayer pairs autoplay with mute in the settings UI because muted autoplay is more likely to be allowed.
Test:
- Desktop Chrome or Edge.
- iPhone Safari.
- Android Chrome.
- First visit in a private window.
- Return visit if Magic Resume is enabled.
See Magic Autoplay.
Continue watching does not resume
Confirm Magic Resume is enabled, save the video settings, and refresh the page or embed. Resume behavior depends on browser or player storage, so test in the same browser and device.
Private browsing, consent tools, privacy extensions, and browser storage cleanup can prevent resume from working.
See Resume play.
Simulated live or viewer counts
Use these features carefully. Some markets and ad platforms may treat simulated activity as a compliance-sensitive claim. Review copy and disclosures before launch.
See Magic Live Streaming.
External embed issues
For external sites, check:
- The host allows custom HTML and script tags.
- The AtomicPlayer bootstrap script was not stripped by the host.
- The domain is authorized.
- The embed was copied after the latest save.
- The host page was published after replacing the snippet.
- No cookie banner, optimization plugin, or script blocker delays the player script indefinitely.
Atomicat page issues
For Atomicat pages, check:
- The Video element is set to the AtomicPlayer/Atomic source.
- The correct video asset is selected.
- The page was published after the change.
- Only the intended video uses delayed autoplay or scroll-into-view behavior.
- Page-level custom code is not blocking or duplicating video scripts.
Still stuck?
Gather:
- Page URL.
- Video name.
- Browser and device.
- Screenshot or screen recording.
- Whether the issue happens inside Atomicat, on an Atomicat page, or on an external page.
- Whether the domain is authorized or Allow all origins is enabled.
- Whether you republished/replaced the embed after the latest settings change.

FAQ
Why does the video work inside Atomicat but not on my site?
The external domain may not be authorized, the host may have stripped the script, or the published page may still contain an old embed. Authorize the domain, copy a fresh embed, and publish the external page again.
Why does autoplay work on desktop but not mobile?
Mobile browsers are stricter, especially with sound. Test muted autoplay and Magic Autoplay on real iOS and Android devices.
Why did my thumbnail or Magic Autoplay image not update?
The page may still load old embed attributes or cached assets. Save the video, republish the Atomicat page or replace external HTML, then clear cache if needed.
Does Magic Resume work across devices?
Usually no. Treat resume as same-browser behavior that can be affected by privacy mode, storage cleanup, and consent settings.
